In 2019, one audience you don’t want to overlook in your marketing efforts is the group of people who are approximately between the ages of 23 and 38 right now – they’re known as the “Millennials” or “Generation Y.” “Marketing to Millennials” is a hot topic: “There are currently 80 million Millennials in the U.S. – nearly one-fourth of the total population. And, with an annual buying power of $200 billion, they are the most lucrative market,” according to one Hubspot report.
About marketing to Millennials, a MarketingProfs report says, “Connecting with this demographic is not easy. As the first digitally native generation, Millennials have been raised on technology and live and die by social media and their smartphones. As for engaging with brands, they generally have a sharper eye and higher expectations than generations before them.” The same report recommends these four tactics:
1. Deliver authenticity.
2. Update the graphic design of your brand.
3. Don’t be too “aggressive”!
4. Provide “value-added” content. (You can read the full report for details.)
And Millennials “just want to have fun” and “prefer use over ownership,” according to the Hubspot article, which also says, “Capitalizing on this ‘sharing’ mentality is a smart move for modern businesses, especially those targeting Millennials.”
