Ways to Save Your Business Time and Money – Now and in the New Year
In a few weeks, we’ll be starting a new calendar year, and many of us will be starting a new fiscal year for our businesses. While 2011 hasn’t been the easiest year, there’s promise and hope and for the year ahead – and there are simple ways to save time and money for our businesses, now and in the future. Here are some suggestions:

1. Plan ahead and create a schedule.
Look ahead at least three months and plan your business’ marketing and branding activities. For IOP, I use a calendar and visualize the timing of our mailings and social media efforts. By planning ahead, I can make sure we’re doing the right things to reach the right people (our target customers) at the right time.

2. Buy in bulk.
Once you have a schedule and calendar to follow, you can anticipate your business’ needs and buy in bulk for the year or the quarter, whatever time-period that makes sense for you. We sell imprinted promotional products (and we use them for our own marketing purposes, too), and you’ll always get a better price and save money when you buy bigger quantities. (This is the same concept that drives sales at Costco and Sam’s Club…)

3. Use one-stop shopping.
In any business, by working with one supplier, you generally get better prices and service because you’ve attained a greater “valued-customer” status. At IOP, all of our customers big and small are valued and we provide the same high-quality service to everyone. We believe that’s the way it should be in business, and it makes our jobs and your jobs easier for everyone.

Do you have any other ideas about saving your business time and money? Let us know. We welcome your comments here on this blog, or call us at 732-758-6280, or tweet us @IOPcomm.

Until next time, take care!

Giving Thanks, Driving Loyalty and Treating Customers and Employees Like Real People
November is a time for being grateful, a time for remembering those who have served our country (Veterans' Day is November 11), and a time for thanking just about everyone: the veterans for their service; our employees for their dedication; our customers for their business; our friends and families, etc. In general, it’s a time for thanking people.

In your business transactions and in your “real world,” how you treat people can make a big difference. It’s important to remember we’re all human with emotions and basic needs. Offering a simple “thank you” or a small gesture or some acknowledgment can go a long way to create loyalty and simply make someone “feel good” about themselves and your business.

In her post on TheSocialCustomer.com, Alyson Stone writes, “I’m loyal to companies that surprise me with a treat…” and she describes how her family stayed at an inn where they sent ice cream to their room for the kids and this all happened 20 years ago, and she still remembers the gesture. Stone adds, “What a great customer service idea that was!”

So, the big question now is, “How are you ‘treating’ your employees and customers?” Like “real people”? If you want to surprise them with a gift (small or large), either now in November, or next month for the holidays, IOP Communications can help you pick appropriate gifts for everyone on your “thank you” list!

Contact us today. Tweet us on Twitter: @IOPcomm. Or call me directly at 732-758-6280.

Thank you for reading this blog and let me know what you think about Alyson’s blog post and her ideas about customer service and loyalty (I think they’re great!).

Sincerely,

Mike DeNofa

Support a Good Cause: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
By raising awareness we can make a difference… October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and according to the American Cancer Society (ACS), breast cancer death rates have been going down. These statistics from ACS are sobering, but they do offer hope:

The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is a little less than 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35. Breast cancer death rates have been going down. This is probably the result of finding the cancer earlier and better treatment. Right now there are more than 2½ million breast cancer survivors in the United States.

Show your support for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in your workplace and in your community by imprinting your company’s logo and a supportive message on memorable promotional items.

IOP Communications can help you select, design and produce branded items to help you communicate your company’s support and to help raise awareness. These are only two of the many breast cancer awareness items we offer.

Call us at 732-758-6280 or tweet us @IOPcomm for more ideas and information.

Together, we can make a difference. Thank you!

Ready or not, summer is here (or just around the corner, if you’re following a traditional calendar…)! Golf outings, company picnics, outdoor concerts and events present the perfect opportunity to promote your company’s brand and to "woo" more customers with imprinted promotional items.

Timely and helpful gifts imprinted with your marketing messages and/or logos are greatly appreciated by the people who need them. ‘Sweet 16!’ - IOP Communications, Inc. Celebrates 16 Years Serving Organizations and Businesses as a ‘One-Stop Shop’
Shrewsbury, NJ-Based Business Continues to Expand Printing and Marketing Services
By Combining Traditional and New Media Strategies

SHREWSBURY, NJ February 28, 2011 IOP Communications, Inc., a marketing services and commercial printing company based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, announces the celebration of its 16th anniversary in business today, February 28, 2011. Since 1995, IOP has offered local and national businesses and organizations a variety of printed media, imprinted products, and other branding solutions to help these businesses improve their return on investment (ROI).

“We’re celebrating our ‘Sweet 16’,” says Mike DeNofa, Vice President of Sales for IOP. “So much has changed since we started the business in 1995, but what hasn’t changed is that we’re still focused on helping our customers get the best ROI.” DeNofa says the changing times have dictated the changes at IOP. He adds, “We’re not just a printer any more. In addition to expanding our printing services, we’ve added new services, including warehousing, distribution, and kitting. We’ve become a ‘one-stop shop’ for a lot of our customers. We also offer imprinted wear-ables and promotional items to help businesses with their branding, and we’ve become involved with several non-profit organizations to help them with their fundraising efforts.”

Marion Serravalli, Purchasing Manager, Chemicals/Services for Marcal Manufacturing, has worked with DeNofa and IOP since the company was formed. Serravalli says, “I value the honest working relationship I have with Mike and IOP. Mike pays close attention to detail and quality. IOP provides all our forms, check stock, promotional items, etc. … Our safety manager is so impressed with the quality of items we have purchased from IOP, she will not use another company.”

Other IOP customers agree with Serravalli’s assessment of IOP’s services. Lisa Natale, VP Marketing Senior Marketing Officer for Ocean First Bank, says, “IOP’s service is excellent. Mike follows up, he keeps projects moving… We love working with Mike. He’s an excellent resource.”

Today, on top of the commercial printing services the company has always provided, IOP offers additional services. The company has evolved and grown with the changing times to become a full-service branding business, providing promotional items imprinted with a customer’s logo and/or marketing message. IOP continues to offer traditional printing and marketing solutions, but the company now offers expanded printing services, including large-format printing for posters and banners, and other stand-out branding solutions for businesses. DeNofa adds, “Some of the new things we offer are car and bus wraps, giving our customers the ability to advertise and brand their businesses with a big impact. Imagine seeing your company’s logo and marketing message wrapped around a big bus sitting in traffic!”

Looking ahead, DeNofa says IOP will continue to grow and evolve along with IOP’s existing and new clients, taking advantage of marketing opportunities offered by new media outlets. IOP is currently involved with social media and can be followed on Twitter (@IOPcomm). Mike DeNofa is on LinkedIn, and a Facebook page for IOP is currently being developed.

Give Thanks(giving) and Messages of Appreciation to Your Customers

Save yourself some money and effort by appreciating the customers you already have: “The cost of acquiring a new customer is five times that of retaining an existing one,” says Inc.com in How to Deliver Great Customer Service.

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to show your appreciation! Take the lead and be the first person and business your customers see showing your appreciation for them this holiday season in November, not December. Instead of sending the “usual” December holiday gifts, why not send Thanksgiving gifts and/or cards? IOP can help you do this through our easy 1-2-3 corporate gift-giving program.

Plan now: Thanksgiving is November 25th this year… Call IOP today at 732-758-6280 or email us at info@iopcomm.com or tweet us @IOPcomm.

As always, thanks for reading!
